Naming Ceremonies – Hanwal

All cultures have ways of marking the naming of a child; some are religious and welcome the child into a church, but this isn’t right for everyone. We can offer an alternative to ceremonies such as a Christening, to recognise and celebrate the arrival of a child and welcome them into their family and circle of friends. Parents can nominate their friends or relations to act as Gwithaiz (Cornish for Guardian) within the Kordh (Cornish for extended clan/tribe/family). The ceremony often forms the focus for a family celebration.

You can also choose to have this ceremony to welcome an adopted child or to celebrate step families coming together.
